Do you get fed up with ‘comparison site’ clutter when you are searching Google? Do you resent wading through Bizrate, Ciao, Pricegrabber and other bots to find the results you are looking for? This might help.
By the way, what is you favourite Google search hack? Do share here and let me know. Here’s one I use quite a lot that I just shared with a client this morning:
Check out ‘Give Me Back My Google’:
Its not new – I have been using it for a couple of years,
Its not perfect – It does not filter all bot and link-farm results
But it is a good option – especially if it is always there for you when you want it. Here’s how I set it up as an option in Internet Explorer:
Navigate to http://www.givemebackmygoogle.com/
Click on the arrow to the right of the Home icon on the top toolbar
Select ‘Add or change Home Page’
Select ‘Add this webpage to your home page tabs’ then ‘Yes’
You will now have the option to use either search boxes next time you open Google. Try it when you specifically don’t want comparison clutter.
Do get in touch if you think we can help in any way. I promise results worth talking about.
Based on Google’s custom search I’ve created a search engine which filters out the most “popular” price comparison websites, online shops, otherwise highly commercial sites and spam or sites with spam alike content. I think it works a bit better than the “Give Me Back My Google” fix because the list of blocked sites is far more comprehensive. Please have a try at http://www.cleversearch.org
In case you still find annoying websites in the search results just send them to me (link to the contact form is in the footer) and I’ll add them to the filter list.
